”Twilight’ opened up Hollywood to female audiences’ says Robert Pattinson

The saga has made women a 'legitimate' audience, says star

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has said that the supernatural saga has opened up the cinema to women.

Pattinson plays vampire Edward Cullen in the smash hit series. And he has now claimed that Hollywood was indifferent to female audiences before the success of the first film.

He told TNT magazine “It made people in the industry aware that women, just solely women, are a legitimate audience for movies. Which is, in a strange sort of way, good for guys as well.”

I think the industry got convinced that the only people that would go to the cinema were teenage boys.

Pattinson also revealed that he would like to step behind the camera and write a screenplay. He said: “I’d like to write stuff. I’d really like to be a script doctor, just figuring out how to make a script that doesn’t work, work!”

The Twilight Saga approaches its climax this week with the penultimate movie Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The film received its premiere last night (November 16) and is released in the UK tomorrow.
