Angie was informed of her ex-husband David Bowie's passing while she was in the 'CBB' house
Angie Bowie has become the second housemate to wave goodbye to the Celebrity Big Brother house in as many days.
A Channel 5 representative informed the press earlier this afternoon (January 19): “After being unwell for a few days, Angie Bowie has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house. Her exit will be addressed in tonight’s live show on Channel 5 at 9pm.”
The exit of Angie Bowie, first wife of the late David Bowie, follows David Gest’s departure from the Celebrity Big Brother house yesterday “due to medical reasons”.
Angie Bowie – who was married to David Bowie from 1970 to 1980, and is the mother of his son Duncan Jones – entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on launch night on January 5. She was informed of her ex-husband’s death off-camera shortly after his passing was publicly announced. At the time, she decided to remain on the show.
After being informed of her ex-husband’s passing, she was inadvertently involved in a farcical misunderstanding when several housemates mistakenly assumed David Gest had passed away in the Celebrity Big Brother house’s bedroom.
When Angie Bowie told fellow housemate Tiffany Pollard that she was upset because “David’s dead,” Pollard presumed she was referring to Gest rather than Angie’s ex-husband David Bowie. Pollard proceeded to tell her fellow housemates that Gest had died before the situation was clarified.
