US city issues arrest warrant for Elsa from ‘Frozen’ following record low temperatures

'Suspect is a blonde female... known to burst into song,' says Harlan City Police Department

A US city issued an arrest warrant for Queen Elsa from Frozen last week while enduring a spell of extreme cold weather.

Temperatures in the state of Kentucky plummeted to a record low of -22C on Thursday (February 19), the BBC reports. The day before, the police department in the small city of Harlan in south-east Kentucky launched an appeal to track down a possible culprit.

A message posted on the Harlan City Police Department (HPD) Facebook page reads: “All points bulletin!!! HPD has issued an arrest warrant for Queen Elsa of Arendelle. Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song “Let it Go!” As you can see by the weather she is very dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend her alone.”

In Disney’s Oscar-winning hit Frozen, Queen Elsa possesses the magical ability to create and manipulate ice and snow. The character, voiced by Idina Menzel, initially struggles to control her abilities and inadvertently sends the kingdom of Arendelle into an eternal winter on the evening of her coronation.

A follow-up message posted on the HPD Facebook page adds, rather more seriously: “All kidding aside, the weather has been very dangerous and temps will get worse. Everyone please take precautions to stay safe and warm. Stay off the roads unless it is an emergency. Watch out and help others who may need help. HPD is doing a great job during this time but it takes everyone working together.”
