‘War Horse’ actor Toby Kebbell for Doctor Doom role in ‘Fantastic Four’

'Black Mirror' and 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' star in talks to play villain

War Horse actor Toby Kebbell is in talks to play Doctor Doom in the reboot of The Fantastic Four, according to reports.

Deadline says that Kebbell, who has also starred in Charlie Brooker’s Channel 4 drama series Black Mirror and will feature in the forthcoming big-screen flick Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, is reportedly in negotiations to play the iconic villain.

Kebbell was linked with the role last month, and was thought to be in contention for the part along with Les Miserables actor Eddie Redmayne and Sam Riley, who starred as Ian Curtis in Control, a biopic of the Joy Division singer’s life.

Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan and Jamie Bell will star in the roles of the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, Mr Fantastic and the Thing in the revamped Fantastic Four. The 2005 film adaptation starred Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis as the superhero team, while Nip/Tuck actor Julian McMahon played Doctor Doom.

As in the comic books, which began in 1961, they gained superpowers after exposure to cosmic rays during a scientific mission in outer space, and the cast returned for 2007 sequel Rise Of The Silver Surfer. The films were widely panned by critics upon release, although they did perform relatively well at the box office.
