Warner Bros. already in talks about ‘Aquaman’ sequel

After the success of the first, another one might be in the works

Warner Bros. is reportedly already in talks about Aquaman sequel, based on box office predictions of $65 million.

The latest feature film from DC stars Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, as well as Amber Heard as his wife Mera, Nicole KidmanDolph Lundgren and Willem Dafoe.

During an interview with Heard, The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Warner Bros. are confident Aquaman will be a hit and already planning the sequel.

The piece reported that “the film is expected to earn an impressive $65 million in its domestic debut and top Mary Poppins Returns and Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. That number gave Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich enough confidence to begin talks on a sequel (though no writer has been commissioned yet).”

The DC Universe has had a changeable relationship with the box office recently. While Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman were definitely successful – both have sequels in the works – Man of Steel and Justice League dildn’t quite deliver.

Meanwhile, the chance of fans watchimg Marvel’s rival watery superhero Prince Namor in his own featured remain slim.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously described the situation as “complicated”, explaining that Universal still owns the movie rights to the character many claim preceded Aquaman.
