The latest trailer for Captain Marvel has arrived – and it sees the exciting return of a fan favourite.
If you cast your mind back to the first Avengers movie in 2012, you’ll remember that the death of Agent Phil Coulson was both unexpected and devastating in equal measure.
But as the latest trailer for Captain Marvel arrives, fans will be extremely to see that he’s returned to the MCU once more. Well, kind of.
Captain Marvel is set in 1995 – which means that the latest trailer treats us to the sight of an altogether younger Agent Coulson, long before he met his demise in the 2012 movie.
Elsewhere in the clip, we get to see a greater look at the dynamic between Brie Larson’s titular hero and Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury. It looks there’s more of a comedic relationship than first envisaged – as opposed to a full on actioner.
An official synopsis teases: “The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019.
