Actress trains with 'The Force Awakens stunt performer Liang Yang
Daisy Ridley has shown off her new, improved lightsaber skills as she trains for the next Star Wars film.
The acress, who played Rey in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is currently preparing to film the follow up with director Rian Johnson.
Posting a video on Instagram, Ridley revealed she is training with Force Awakens stunt performer Liang Yang. “I always try to get him to teach me things,” Ridley wrote. “Obvs not great but he’s amazing and he’s also featured at the end our stunt team are the most incredible group of people, so lucky I get to train with them!”
Ridley was plucked from obscurity to play Rey in Abrams’ record-breaking The Force Awakens and the director will produce her next film, Kolma.
The film is based on a Israeli TV movie called All I’ve Got and tells the story of a woman who loses her boyfriend in a fatal car crash. She comes to terms with her loss and moves on, eventually getting married and starting a new family. However, when she dies later in life she is offered the chance to go back to the day of the crash and be with her former lover. The only catch; if she does so she loses all memory of the life she built after he died.
Ridley is currently hot property and is also rumoured to be appearing in the next Tomb Raider film.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released last December and represented Ridley’s first major screen role. Production is currently underway for follow-up Episode VIII, which will be written and directed by Rian Johnson. That film is expected for release in 2017.
