Ricky Gervais has released a video for his first David Brent single, as well as announcing details of the upcoming Brent album.

Gervais reprises his role of The Office character for upcoming movie, David Brent: Life On The Road, which opens in UK cinemas on August 19.

The writer-actor had previously revealed he will release a David Brent album to accompany his character’s film debut and now it has been confirmed that ‘Life On The Road’ will be released the same day as the movie (August 19).

Ahead of the album release, Gervais/Brent has released new single ‘Lady Gypsy’. He had previously described the song as “sort of Braveheart [fused] with Simon & Garfunkel”.

Its video sees the character falling in love with a woman of Romani heritage. Watch the clip below.

Gervais originally portrayed the character of David Brent in ​The Office ​from 2001-2003, later reviving the role for charity specials and a YouTube series.​

The first trailer for David Brent: Life On The Road has been revealed and sees Gervais’ character in typically inappropriate form.
