"That's what friends are for."
It’s been almost two months since Fyre was released on Netflix, but the parodies are still coming thick and fast.
The latest send-up of the ill fated festival emerged at the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday – and it saw Parks & Rec actor Jim O’Hare making a very welcome return.
In the parody, O’Hare is seen assuming the role of water saviour Steve King from the original film and his role is equally dubious.
O’Hare finds himself in a similar situation to King when he receives a phone call from Aubrey Plaza.
“She said you have to go to Costco. You have to find a cashier named Joel who has got all of the water bottles. And will you save this award show and suck his dick?,” he says in the clip.
While King escaped lightly, it seems there’s no such luck for Jerry.
“That’s what friends are for,” Jerry says. “And I know she would do the same for me.”
Ouch. Meanwhile, it emerged last week that King “begged” for his infamous story about oral sex to be dropped from the film.
While the real King may have become Fyre‘s unexpected star, it was recently revealed that he’s been inundated with TV offers.
“I had three TV show offers this week, from notable networks,” he said.
“In the old world of TV it was The Carol Burnett Show and these fun, light-hearted shows that weren’t all crime-related. You see the attractiveness of HGTV today. People love Flip or Flop or Fixer Upper. Let’s just say it’s going to be a show about hosting crazy events — what it takes to make them happen. There will be cliff-hangers, and you’ll get to follow me around and see how I pull them off.”
