Meyers will play the late Clash frontman in the new film, which is out October 7
A new clip of Jonathan Rhys Meyers starring as Joe Strummer in the film London Town has been released.
The 39-year-old Irish actor is playing the role of the legendary Clash frontman in the new film, which depicts a teenager, Shay (played by Daniel Huttlestone), who becomes obsessed with the band in 1979. The first trailer for the film was released earlier this month.
As reported by Pitchfork, a new clip from London Town has now been released. Presenting Meyers performing on stage as Strummer, he leads his band through a rendition of The Clash’s 1978 single ‘Clash City Rockers’.

London Town will be soundtracked by a number of The Clash songs, as well as music by the likes of Buzzcocks, the Stranglers, Toots and the Maytals, Willie Williams and Stiff Little Fingers.
The film will be released in cinemas and on iTunes on October 7.
