Martial arts sequel launches on Netflix next Friday (February 26)

Netflix has released a second trailer for the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Titled Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny, the feature-length sequel will premiere simultaneously on Netflix and in select IMAX theatres next Friday (February 26). It arrives in China today (February 19).

Michelle Yeoh has reprised her role as Yu Shu Lien from the original film, joined by former Glee star Harry Shum Jr. and Hong Kong’s leading action star Donnie Yen, who will also be seen in next year’s Star Wars spin-off film Rogue One.

Chinese martial arts movie director Yuen Woo-ping is behind the camera, replacing Ang Lee, who directed the Oscar-winning original 2000 film. John Fusco (Young Guns) wrote the script based on Du Lu Wang’s book Iron Knight, Silver Vase, which is part of the same series of novels which spawned the original film.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny is Netflix’s third original film following Beasts Of No Nation, a war drama starring Idris Elba which launched in October, and The Ridiculous Six, a controversial comedy from Adam Sandler which followed in December.

Meanwhile, it has recently been announced that Woody Allen will release his next comedy film on rival streaming service Amazon Prime.
