A new trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane debuted on AMC during the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead last night (February 14). Watch it below.
The “surprise” sci-fi movie was announced in early January with the release of its first trailer. J.J. Abrams has described it as a “blood relative” to the 2008 sleeper hit Cloverfield.
Abrams serves as a producer on the new movie, which was made by his production company Bad Robot using the code name “Valencia“. The film’s script was co-written by Whiplash‘s writer-director Damien Chazelle, with former podcast host Dan Trachtenberg directing.
The film’s cast includes John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher, Jr. A plot synopsis teases: “Waking up from a car accident, a young woman (Winstead) finds herself in the basement of a man who says he’s saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable.”
“He tells me that basically the world is over outside because there’s been a nuclear fall-out,” Winstead has said of her character’s relationship with her saviour/captor. “There’s a lot of who’s manipulating who, and all of that.” 10 Cloverfield Lane will open in cinemas on March 11.
