Season Five of the horror anthology series continues to flesh out its cast
Wes Bentley has joined Lady Gaga in the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel.
Bentley, who played Edward Mordrake in the last season of the horror anthology series, Freak Show, will return for the next instalment in an unspecified “series regular” role. Each season of American Horror Story introduces a new setting and characters, but the show’s creative team are keeping details about Season Five, Hotel, closely under wraps.
The show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter last night (March 17) to announce Bentley’s casting. The 36-year-old actor is best known for his roles in American Beauty, Interstellar and The Hunger Games.
Matt Bomer (The Normal Heart, White Collar) and Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Behind The Candelabra) are also confirmed to be appearing alongside Lady Gaga in American Horror Story: Hotel. However, fan favourite
Jessica Lange – who has played key roles in all four previous seasons – has confirmed that she won’t be returning for Season Five.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Kathy Bates is “poised to return” for Season Five having taken on key roles in Season Three, Coven, and Season Four, Freak Show.
Lady Gaga announced last month (February) that she will be starring in Season Five, and revealed its title: American Horror Story: Hotel. The new season is set to begin on US cable network FX this October (2014). It will be Gaga’s first TV acting job following small supporting roles in the films Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. She also appeared as herself in last year’s Muppets Most Wanted.
