Actor has since been released after his SUV was flipped over
Will Ferrell was reportedly hospitalised last night (April 12) after being involved in a car accident in Orange County, California.
The accident is said to have taken place just before 11pm on Interstate 5, south of Aliso Viejo.
According to TMZ, the Anchorman star was one of three passengers in a chauffeur-driven SUV that got “flipped over” after being “side-swiped by another car”.
Deadline reports that the driver of the other car had “fallen asleep at the wheel”.
Ferrell was rushed to hospital, with one of his fellow passengers said to be “more seriously injured” and “bleeding profusely”, say TMZ.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, all four individuals in Ferrell’s car sustained injuries but none are thought to be life-threatening.
A representative for Ferrell has since confirmed that he has been released from hospital, did not suffer any serious injury and is “doing well”.
Law enforcement sources have said that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident and that no arrests have been made. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Ferrell had reportedly been travelling back from a Funny or Die! event near San Diego where he made a special appearance as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy.
