Will Obi-Wan Kenobi return for the next Star Wars?

Ewan McGregor may be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the next Star Wars movie

There are reports that Ewan McGregor is set to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the next episode of Star Wars.

With many fans hoping for a full spin-off movie from Disney, the news is likely to receive mixed reactions from fans.

However, in light of the latest Solo movie which failed to make an impact at the Box Office recently, Lucasfilm have put all the spin-off movies on hold for the foreseeable.

Solo became the first movie to “officially flop” at the Box Office being the first ever Star Wars movie to make a loss in only its second week.

Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis had previously questioned the decision to open Solo in the same weekend as  ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Deadpool 2’, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to The Sun, Ewan is “secretly filming” for the next Star Wars movie already with a source saying “Disney have been mulling over a stand-alone film for Obi-Wan. There have been concerns about getting the story right.”

McGregor last played Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith back in 2005. The star has previously spoken about reprising his role.

Speaking to reporters at the Golden Globes award, McGregor said: “I’d be happy to play [Obi-Wan] again.” He added that he “[didn’t] know any more about than you do,” to reporters when asked about the rumours saying “there is a lot of talk.”
