David James Kelly to write 'X-Men' spin-off movie starring Hugh Jackman

The latest Wolverine movie is to be penned by a relatively unknown writer

David James Kelly has been announced as the scriptwriter on the X-Men spin-off movie, starring Hugh Jackman, reports Deadline. The site also reports that the film will be directed by James Mangold.

Since its release this July, The Wolverine has taken over $415 million (£255 million) worldwide, the second-highest total of any X-Men film behind 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, which took around $460 million (£285 million).

Meanwhile, Jackman has reprised his role as Logan aka Wolverine in next year’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past, which opens in cinemas on May 22. Watch the trailer for the film – which also stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart – below.
