Woody Allen to play pimp in John Turturro’s ‘Fading Gigolo’

It will be his first appearance in someone else's movie for 12 years

Woody Allen has signed up to play a pimp in John Turturro‘s new movie Fading Gigolo.

The legendary director has signed on for the film, which follows two cash-strapped friensd who enter the escort business to help ease their financial woes. Turturro will write, direct and co-star in the film, with his character eventually falling for a Jewish widow.

Allen rarely appears in films he is not directing, so his casting is considered a coup for Turturro. His last appearance in someone else’s film was 12 years ago in Alfonso Arau’s Picking Up The Pieces. The movie will also co-star Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara, according to Variety.

Allen’s last directorial outing Midnight In Paris saw him win an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and was the highest earning film in his lengthy career. It was also nominated for Best Picture. You can watch the trailer below.

Fading Gigolo begins shooting in April for a 2013 release.
