Yoda from Star Wars almost looked very different, with the original concept art for the character newly unveiled.
A new exhibition, ‘Star Wars Identities’, is currently on display at London’s O2, with Digital Spy sharing the original concept painting of Yoda by artist Ralph McQuarrie that forms part of the exhibition. See that picture below.
‘Star Wars Identities’ runs at The O2’s Brooklyn Bowl from today (November 18) to September 3, 2017.
Yoda nearly appeared in The Force Awakens, one of the film’s editors recently revealed.
Archive audio of Yoda’s voice can be heard in the film, in the premonition experienced by Daisy Ridley’s character Rey, but at one point a full-scale Yoda cameo was mooted. Frank Oz, the puppeteer who brings Yoda to life and provides the character’s voice, was even brought in to reprise his much-loved role.
“There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to,” editor Maryann Brandon told Entertainment Tonight. “Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it – and we were tickled pink!”
