'Star Trek' actor will appear in at least one episode of the US horror series
Star Trek‘s Zachary Quinto is to guest star in the next season of Hannibal.
The Mr Spock actor will appear in at least one episode of Season Three, Entertainment Weekly reports, as a patient of Gillian Anderson’s psychotherapist, Bedelia duMaurier.
Season Three of Hannibal started shooting in October and will debut on US network NBC later this year. The show, based upon Thomas Harris’s 1981 novel Red Dragon, focuses on the budding relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy) and forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). In the UK, Hannibal airs on Sky Living.
Anderson had a recurring role in the first two seasons as Du Maurier, Lecter’s psychotherapist, but will become a main cast member for Season Three. Meanwhile, The Hobbit actor Richard Armitage has joined the cast and will appear in six episodes as serial killer Francis Dolarhyde aka The Tooth Fairy.
Earlier this week Quinto paid tribute to Leonard Nimoy, his predecessor as Star Trek’s iconic Mr Spock, who passed away on February 27, calling the late actor a “father figure”.
