‘Zero Dark Thirty’ actor Jason Clarke in talks to play John Connor in ‘Terminator’ reboot

Australian actor tipped for role in 'Genesis'

Zero Dark Thirty actor Jason Clarke is in talks to play John Connor in the forthcoming Terminator reboot, according to reports.

Deadline says that Clarke, who has also starred in the Western flick Lawless and Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, has taken over from Tom Hardy as the leading candidate for the role. It was previously reported that the film will be titled Terminator: Genesis.

Thor: The Dark World and Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor will helm the project, while the script has been written by Laela Kalogrodis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry), although no plot details are known at the moment. There are still ongoing discussions regarding who will play Sarah Connor in the film, with both …Thrones actress Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson thought to be in contention.

Paramount has yet to confirm what role – if any – Arnold Schwarzenegger will play in the film though the actor has said on several occasions this year: “I’ll be back.”

Schwarzenegger originated the iconic role in 1984’s Terminator and returned for 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day and 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. A fourth instalment, Terminator Salvation, followed in 2009 without Schwarzenegger, who was then serving as Governor of California.
