The second series of Fleabag will begin on March 4 2019, it’s been confirmed.
BBC Three’s black dramedy is set to explore the emotional turmoil that ended the first series. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s acclaimed sitcom finished its first run on an emotionally charged note, with the titular character breaking down after becoming distanced from her friends.

It seems that the show’s darker side will be explored even more in the forthcoming series before the laughs return.
Speaking to Dazed, producer Lydia Hampson said: “The key is to not retread old ground.
“Fleabag’s in a very different place in life from where we left her. The whole of the first series, it was a façade. She was shiny and prim on top, but you didn’t know she was grieving underneath it all. In that last episode, we saw she was broken. We can’t go back to pretending she’s fine again.”
She added: “Whatever our story is, we’re going to start a year on from where we left off.”
After debuting in 2016, Fleabag received huge acclaim – winning the NME Award for Best TV show in 2017.
“Wow – fucking hell. This is literally the closest a sitcom writer could be to being a rockstar,” Waller-Bridge as she accepted the award.
Waller-Bridge stars as the show’s titular character and was joined in series one by actors including Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered).
