Superhero reboot gets new actor, new suit, new logo
The first image of Andrew Garfield in the lead role in the forthcoming Spider-Man reboot has been released (pictured).
The image shows Garfield wearing a costume and ‘spider’ logo significantly different from that worn by previous Spider-Man actor, Toby Maguire.
The new film’s director is (500) Days Of Summer director Marc Webb, who has promised further renovations to the classic Marvell Comics character. BBC News reports that the new film will focus on the formative years of Spider-Man alter ego Peter Parker and star Emma Stone as character Gwen Stacy.
Garfield, who starred in 2010’s The Social Network, was cast as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in July last year.
Both Garfield and Stone were shortlisted for this year’s Bafta Rising Star award earlier in the week.
The new Spider-Man movie will be shot in 3D and released in the UK in July 2012.
