First trailer for big screen ‘Dad’s Army’ adaptation released – watch

A trailer has been released for Dad’s Army, the forthcoming feature film based on the much-loved British comedy. Scroll down to watch.

Directed by BAFTA award-winning Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband, The Importance of Being Earnest), the film brings together a cast that includes Bill Nighy, Toby Jones, Tom Courtenay, Blake Harrison, Danny Mays, Bill Paterson, Sarah Lancashire and Catherine Zeta Jones. Hamish McColl (Churchill: The Hollywood Years) will serve as screenwriter and the project is being produced by Damian Jones.

Set in 1944, the film follows members of the British Home Guard as they patrol the Dover army base during World War II. It’s currently scheduled for a February 5, 2016 release.

The Dad’s Army TV series was originally broadcast on BBC television from 1968 to 1977. It ran for 9 series and 80 episodes in total, and it still frequently repeated worldwide.
