The Flight of the Conchords tour has been postponed

Bret McKenzie took a tumble down the stairs

The Flight of the Conchords UK and Ireland tour has been postponed after Bret McKenzie suffered a hand injury.

Last October, the New Zealand comedy folk duo announced their return to UK shores for the first time since 2010, taking in huge venues including London’s The O2 and Eventim Apollo.

However, one half of the acclaimed duo, Bret McKenzie, has fallen down some stairs and is unable to continue the tour.

Posting on Facebook, McKenzie wrote: “Unfortunately I’ve broken two bones in my hand today in a very rock ‘n’ roll injury – falling down some stairs.

“The doctors have informed me that I won’t be able to perform for several weeks. I’m sorry not to be able to do these upcoming shows but I’m looking forward to coming back and finishing the tour when I have two fully functioning hands.” See the post below.

Flight Of The Conchords ran on HBO until 2009, following Clement and Bret McKenzie on their journey as “New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo.”

Along with starring in their own hugely popular HBO show, the Conchords boys have also released two albums, a 2008 self titled effort and 2009’s ‘I Told You I Was Freaky’.

Earlier this year, more details about the upcoming hour-long special were revealed.

Jemaine Clement confirmed that a “little something” is planned for fans of the cult show.

“We’d do something,” he replied when asked by EW if a Flight of the Conchords reboot was in the works. “We’re going to film a little something this year. We’re going to shoot an hour thing,” he added.

Now, HBO has confirmed that a one-hour special will be released in May. It will be taped during one of the shows of their upcoming UK tour and will feature new music and old material.
