Flying Lotus announces UK premiere of short film ‘Royal’

The producer’s directorial debut will be screened next month

Flying Lotus has announced the UK premiere of his short film Royal.

The Los Angeles producer’s directorial debut will be screened at London’s Regent Street Cinema on November 16.

Flying Lotus, real name aka Steven Ellison, has previously described the film as “an awkward love story that’s definitely not for the kiddies”.

Ellison will be joined by animator David Firth, creator of the popular Salad Fingers web series, who will also premiere his latest short film Cream and feature film Umbilical World.

The two first collaborated on the video for Flying Lotus’ ‘Ready Err Not’ in 2014.

Ellison says: “Cream represents David’s incredible talent and his ability to continue to amaze audiences with his edgy and envelope-pushing animation. I am looking forward to breaking boundaries with him as we continue to develop and produce animated and live-action content at Brainfeeder Films.”

Flying Lotus also recently formed an independent film finance and production company, Brainfeeder Films. Its first project will be a feature film titled Kuso starring funk legend George Clinton.
