Frank Ocean fans are reacting to the news that his long-awaited new album will be released this Friday (August 5).
As reported last night (August 1), Ocean’s second album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ looks set to arrive this week exclusively on Apple Music. The streaming platform will have a two week exclusivity period before the record becomes available on other services.
It is also thought that Ocean will release a major music video and a printed publication to accompany the record.
Responding to the news, many fans have been overjoyed. However, others are cautious that the album could yet be delayed further, with the R&B singer already missing a number of deadlines for the project.

Yesterday, Ocean unveiled a mysterious video on his official website in which a man – possibly Ocean himself – could be seen sawing pieces of wood. The footage was interspersed with clips of music.
The singer-songwriter’s new album was initially expected to be released in 2015, but its delay has contributed to mass frenzy among fans. Ocean’s previous album ‘Channel Orange’ was released in July 2012.
In March, Ocean’s producer Malay said that the album was “maybe a month away”.
Ocean’s friend Chance The Rapper has said that he is “making a masterpiece”, while James Blake has worked on the album and has called it “better” than ‘Channel Orange’.
In February this year new Frank Ocean music was leaked online, supposedly after a secret listening party. The untitled snippets were later removed due to copyright claims.
