‘Game Of Thrones’ and ‘Westworld’ lead Emmy nominations

'Atlanta', 'Stranger Things' and 'The Handmaiden's Tale' are also up for awards

Game Of Thrones and Westworld season 2 lead the nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards.

The HBO series has 22 nominations in total, followed by the sci-fi series and comedy show Saturday Night Live, which both received 21 nominations.

Among the categories Game Of Thrones is up for include best drama series, while actress Lena Headey is up for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is up for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.


Westworld is also up for best drama series and Ed Harris and Jeffrey Wright are fighting it out for best lead actor in a drama series.

It is the first time in 18 years that HBO hasn’t had the highest number of Emmy nominations.

Netflix leads with a total of 112 nominations, beating HBO, which received 108.

Millie Bobby Brown is among the stars up for the best supporting actress award for her performance in Netflix’s Stranger Things.


The Late Late Show with James Corden is up for the outstanding variety talk show award, while Donald Glover is up for best lead actor in a comedy series for Atlanta.

Saturday Night Live‘s Michael Che and Colin Jost are set to host this year’s awards, on September 17.
