‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ free content is currently in development for later this year

A free update is also arriving this week

Nintendo has announced that more content will be coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons later this year.

In a new Tweet today (July 27) Nintendo announced that a new free update for New Horizons will arrive on July 29 and asks players to makes sure they have the latest version installed to “enjoy the upcoming weekly Fireworks shows and new seasonal items”.

Additionally, Nintendo confirmed that “more free content” for Animal Crossing is “currently in development” and will arrive at some point later this year.

“More information will be shared in the future,” Nintendo said, “so please stay tuned. Thank you for your support and patience.”

This news has many fans online excited for the upcoming content, as throughout 2021 Nintendo has released older content and events from last year.

For example, the Easter Bunny Day event that was first released after the game’s debut in March 2020 was added to the game again this year to players’ dismay.

Moreover, the Fishing Tournament, which was released in the first quarter of 2020, also took place again earlier this year.

In June, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser confirmed that new content would be coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons after the game was absent from Nintendo Direct at E3 2021.

Bowser said: “We absolutely have plans going forward to ensure the 33 million people who have islands out there have new and fun activities to engage with. Look for more to come.”

Meanwhile, it was also revealed today that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp‘s August update will soon see the addition of a collection of underwater-themed items.
