Square Enix has announced that NieR Automata has reached 5million copies sold.
Having originally released for PC and PS4 back in 2017, followed by an Xbox One version dropped in 2018, NieR Automata has managed to successfully shift 5million copies. The total number comes from copies sold both physically and digitally.
The news came in a thank you tweet from the NieR Series account, celebrating with fans that the critically acclaimed RPG has reached its milestone.

It’s also been revealed that the mobile game, NieR Re[in]carnation, will finally be released on iOS and Android on February 18, 2021. The release is only confirmed for Japan as of now, with no word on other territories.
To mark it’s release, a special in-game collaboration event featuring characters 2B, 9S and A2 from NieR Automata will also take place the same day as its launch.

2021 will also mark 11 years since the release of the original NieR. To celebrate, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… will hit PC, PS4 and Xbox One in April. The game is a remake of the updated version of the original game which was exclusive to Japan.
A new gameplay trailer also made an appearance during The Game Awards, showcasing the fast paced, explosive combat that the series is known for.
In related JRPG news, the latest entry in the Tales Of series, Tales Of Arise, was expected to release this year, but was delayed indefinitely to “achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience” players expect.
