PlatinumGames has released a new statement where it reassures fans that Babylon’s Fall is still in development.
The game was originally announced at E3 2018 with a then-planned release date of 2019. Babylon’s Fall was later delayed, with gameplay footage being showcased at a State Of Play stream back in December 2019.
Since then details have been scarce, but PlatinumGames has now confirmed that development on the game is still ongoing. “While we hoped to show more about the game this summer, we can share that development on Babylon’s Fall is continuing to progress well, with the team working safely from home,” the company said in a statement.
It added that “Square Enix and PlatinumGames are committed to delivering an exhilarating experience and we look forward to showcasing much more on Babylon’s Fall to you as soon as we can”.

Japanese developer PlatinumGames is best known for games such as NieR: Automata and the Bayonetta series. Besides Babylon’s Fall, it is also currently working on Bayonetta 3 for the Nintendo Switch and Granblue Fantasy: Relink for the PlayStation 4.
In other Square Enix related news, Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase previously confirmed that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will not have a major impact on the development of the game’s sequel.
The part one of Final Fantasy VII Remake was released earlier this year on the PS4. NME’s Jordan Oloman called the game “much more than a simple adaptation [but] a fully fledged upgrade of one of the most beloved JRPGs around” in a glowing four-and-a-half star review.
