The now-cancelled shows were scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 at the Tokyo International Forum. Refunds for both shows have been announced. Square Enix’s announcement noted that future rescheduling of the concerts, as well as the planned event in Osaka in April will be monitored before any further announcements are made.
Final Fantasy VII Remake, which released in April last year received a glowing four-and-a-half star review from NME, and also clinched clinched several accolades during December’s The Game Awards. These include Best Score and Music, and Best Role Playing. The game also clinched the number six spot in NME’s 20 Best Games Of 2020 list.
The game’s planned sequel, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II, is currently in production. The game’s producer, Yoshinori Kitase, confirmed in July that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will not have a major impact on the development of the game. A release date for the highly anticipated sequel has not been announced.
