Glee is planning to feature more original material in the future, execs have revealed.
The hit musical comedy recently debuted two original songs, ‘Loser Like Me’ and ‘Get It Right’ in episodes which aired in the US. The songs reached Number Six and 16 respectively in the US Hot 100 singles chart.
Now, Columbia Records chairman Rob Stringer, who co-developed the show, has said that there are plans for it to generate more of its own material.
He told Music Week: “There will definitely be new songs going forward, although not every week. We will spread the net as wide as we can as we go on to find people who are suitable to write songs for certain characters.”
The move will be significant for the show, which has drawn criticism for filling the charts with covers. Glee continues in the UK on Mondays at 9pm on E4.
