Want to see some new music live? Here’s who’s playing the first Goose Island presents NME Radar sessions

The headliner for the first Goose Island Presents NME Radar Sessions has been revealed.

The gig will be taking place at Goose Island’s Brew Pub in Shoreditch, London on May 1 and will highlight the new rising talent that we’re tipping for big things for the year. The gig will be the first in a series of events by Goose Island, championing the connection between music and beer.

The first session will be headlined by Glasgow indie-rock band LUCIA with support coming from London’s Talk Show.

Admission to the gig is free but we recommend you get yourself down nice and early to guarantee entry.

LUCIA were featured in the NME 100 earlier this year – our top picks for the new acts that will dominate 2019. NME’s Rhian Daly described them as having “big songs and even bigger attitude.”

“Whether it’s front woman Lucia Fairfull howling “Why do you hate me?” on ‘Melted Ice Cream’ – a song about a broken friendship – to the swaggering riffs of latest single ‘Cheap Talk’, they know how to get your attention and keep it in a vice-like grip.”

Read our previews interviews with LUCIA here, and get the low-down from the band themselves in a video below.

Talk Show released their first single ‘Fast and Loud’ on Yala! Records earlier this month, with NME’s Tom Connick describing the song as a “fittingly-titled blast of laser-cut post-punk, with lead singer Harrison Swann’s vocals alternating between the doomy cadence of his thick Manchester accent, and cackling like a man possessed.”
