The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress revealed that she will reprise her role in ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’
Gwendoline Christie has confirmed that she will appear in the next instalment of Disney’s Star Wars saga.
Christie, who played Captain Phasma in the latest film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, revealed that she will reprise the role in the forthcoming Star Wars Episode VIII.
“I will be in the next Star Wars movie,” Christie told People, on the red carpet before the 2016 SAG Awards.
The fate of Christie’s character was a source of speculation for fans, some of which argued that she had been killed off-screen.
Speaking of her involvement in the film, Christie said: “I was very overexcited. I made no secret of the fact that I really campaigned for the part for a long time. And then I was delighted when J.J. Abrams wanted to have me in the film and then wanted to cast me in this role that had originally been designed for a man.”
Disney recently announced that the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII has been set back by around seven months. The film will now open on December 15, 2017.
