Han Solo’s jacket to fetch a huge £1 million at auction

The item worn by Harrison Ford is going on sale as part of a film memorabilia auction

A jacket worn by Harrison Ford in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back could fetch up to £1 million at auction.

The actor plays Han Solo in the long-running film franchise and last appeared as the character in 2015’s The Force Awakens

The clothing item will be part of a sale of rare film memorabilia auctioned off by London’s Prop Store. The September 20 sale will also include other Star Wars memorabilia, including Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber from The Revenge Of The Sith, a Stormtrooper helmet from A New Hope, and another from 2017’s The Last Jedi. Funds from the sale of the latter, which is expected to go for around £50,000, will be donated to the NSPCC.

More than 600 pieces will be up for sale in the auction, including Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back To The Future Part II and a bullwhip used by Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.

Prop Store’s chief executive Stephen Lane said in a statement: “Our auction will once again raise the bar, presenting some of the most iconic cinematic artefacts of our time.” The auction will be held at London’s BFI Imax on September 20, while 270 of the items available will be on display there from September 6-20.

Meanwhile, Mark Hamill recently spoke about returning to Star Wars after the death of Carrie Fisher. The actor played Leia Organa in the series and is set to appear posthumously in Episode IX following her 2016 death.

“It’s bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable,” Hamill wrote on Twitter, attaching photos of the pair on screen together.
