Here’s Tom Hardy reciting a Bane speech to his dog while wearing a cricket box

"You merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, moulded by it"

A video clip of Tom Hardy quoting his iconic performance from The Dark Knight has resurfaced – but it’s a world away from the menacing snarl of Bane.

Instead, it’s the Oscar nominee like you’ve never seen him before – with a cricket box placed over his mouth as he recites the speech in front of his understandably bewildered dog.

Oh, you think darkness is your ally. But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, moulded by it”, Hardy proclaims in Bane’s sinister British accent.

“I didn’t see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BLINDING”.

The clip was first posted online in 2016, but it has experienced renewed popularity after it went viral on Twitter.

“This video is better than Legend and Bronson put together”, one viewer commented.

It’s also believed that the dog in the clip is Hardy’s beloved labrador Woody, who passed away in 2017.

Paying tribute to Woody at the time, Hardy wrote: “To the bestest friend ever. To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known.
“Woody was the bestest of journey companions we ever could dream of having. Our souls intertwined forever.”
