She'll play Carla opposite Dakota Johnson's Anastasia and Charlie Hunnam's Christian
Jennifer Ehle has joined the cast of the eagerly-anticipated Fifty Shades Of Grey film.
The Pride And Prejudice actress will play Carla, the mother of Anastasia Steele, the college student who falls for billionaire businessman Christian Grey, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Last month (September) EL Jamese, the author of the best-selling trilogy of erotic novels, finally announced the film’s leads. Charlie Hunnam (Sons Of Anarchy, Queer As Folk) will play Grey opposite Dakota Johnson (Ben And Kate) as Steele.
The casting of Steele and Grey had been the subject of endless speculation ever since James sold the screen rights to Fifty Shades Of Grey in March 2012. Emma Watson and Mila Kunis were once considered frontrunners to play Steele, while Robert Pattinson, Henry Cavill and Ian Somerhalder had all been tipped for the part of Christian. Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie was briefly linked to the role now taken by Ehle.
Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor-Wood is on board as director and shooting is due to begin next month (November) in Vancouver. Fifty Shades Of Grey will open in cinemas on August 1, 2014.
