Jermaine Jackson changes his name to Jermaine Jacksun

Michael Jackson's brother says the change is for 'artistic reasons'

Pop singer Jermaine Jackson has legally changed his name to Jermaine Jacksun for “artistic reasons”.

Jermaine, who is the older brother of Michael and Janet Jackson, filed a petition to change his name in Los Angeles Superior Court in November 2012. The change became official on Wednesday (February 20) after a hearing, according to Reuters.

The Jacksons member, who is currently on a European tour with his three surviving brothers Jackie, Marlon and Tito, did not attend the hearing at the Los Angeles courtroom.

His attorney Bret D.Lewis said the name change is purely for “artistic reasons” and has nothing to do with a recent family rift over the care of Michael Jackson‘s children and his mother Katherine Jackson.

The Jacksons’ ‘Unity Tour’, the first time the group have toured together since their worldwide ‘Victory Tour’ nearly three decades ago and the first since Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, kicks off its UK leg in Birmingham on Tuesday (February 26).

The UK dates for the ‘Unity Tour’ are as follows:

Birmingham NIA (February 26)
Manchester O2 Apollo (27)
Glasgow Clyde Auditorium (28
Bournemouth BIC (March 2)
London Hammersmith Apollo (3)
