Actor admits he considered quitting the notorious mockumentary
Joaquin Phoenix has admitted he had doubts while making his much talked about fake documentary I’m Still Here.
There were concerns about the actor’s health following his shock announcement to quit acting to focus on his music career instead, and his subsequent interview with David Letterman in 2008 – which saw a bearded Phoenix mumble his way through the awkward interview.
Director Casey Affleck documented Affleck‘s apparent breakdown, and released it on the big screen recently. However, both have now admitted that the film was a hoax.
Phoenix has now revealed that he had considered quitting the movie after his ‘breakdown’ became huge in the media, reports Extratv.
“At some point, it became such a public spectacle. To be frank, we were kind of hostage to the process,” he admitted. “There were times, honestly, where I wanted out. Even on a conventional film, I’m done after four months. But this went on and on.”
