John Boyega and ‘Black Panther”s Letitia Wright to star in new sci-fi love story

'Hold Back the Stars' will reunite the pair after they both studied together at the Identity School of Acting in London

John Boyega and Letitia Wright have been cast as the leads in the forthcoming sci-fi love story Hold Back the Stars.

The casting of the Star Wars and Black Panther stars will unite the two up-and-coming actors a number of years after they studied acting together at the Identity School of Acting in London.

Based on Katie Khan’s novel of the same name, Hold Back the Stars will see Boyega and Wright play “a man and a woman who revisit memories of their love affair on a utopian Earth while they are trapped in the vast void of space with only 90 minutes of oxygen”. [via The Hollywood Reporter]


Another Earth and I Origins filmmaker Mike Cahill will direct the forthcoming film. Reacting to the news, Hold Back The Stars‘ author Khan tweeted: “Well, I see that secret I was so anxiously keeping is out. Hooray! Some absolutely dream casting.”

Back in March, Boyega praised Wright in an interview as he recalled the early days of their friendship at acting school.

“Letitia and I were in the same class,” Boyega explained. “It was so special for me to see her in [Black Panther] because I have seen Letitia from when we both had nothing, had no credibility, and wanted our chance. We would sit and after classes, everybody would congregate at a nearby McDonald’s and I remember seeing Letitia and we would speak about our dreams and our visions.

“We would speak about our spirituality, our relationship with God, prayer, and various other things. We knew something was cooking,” he added. “We knew there was a group of people that were gonna come out of there and really do it. It felt like this group of people might just be the example and prove the success is real. We all did that and it’s just mad. It’s crazy for us all.”
