Johnny Depp insists the forthcoming fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie won’t be as muddled and confusing as previous films in the franchise.
Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides follows two sequels that many fans have claimed are over-complicated. Now Depp, who is returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, has said he believes fans of the franchise are owed a more enjoyable movie.
Depp told Empire magazine: “The thing with Pirates 4, I felt like we owed it to people to entertain them. Pirates 2 and 3 became quite… sub-plotty. The mathematics of it. All these people went to see them two or three times just to figure out what was happening.”
He continued: “This one is a little closer in tone to the first more character driven… more subject driven. It has a freshness and less mathematics.”
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be released May 18.
