Joss Whedon directed extra scene for Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Thor’

'The Avengers' director joined the Marvel party early, star reveals

Joss Whedon stepped in to direct the final scene in Thor, it has been revealed.

The Buffy creator will continue the story of Chris Hemsworth‘s God Of Thunder in the forthcoming superhero ensemble The Avengers, alongside Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America.

But now Stellan Skarsgård, who plays scientist Erik Selvig in the blockbuster, has revealed that Whedon flew in especially to take the reins in the final sequence of the Kennth Branagh-directed movie.

The bonus scene sees Skarsgård‘s character united with Samuel L Jackson‘s Nick Fury, paving the way for The Avengers. He told Empire: “That was Joss Whedon who was doing The Avengers. It was just a couple of months ago and I was happy to meet with Sam again. It was fun seeing him again. I flew over there and went down into a basement, talked to Sam for a few minutes and went home.”

However, the Swedish actor would not be drawn as to his involvement in the next film, saying: “I know what happens to my character in the film, but I’m not allowed to say anything. I’d have to sell my house to pay the fines for that!”
