KFC has been forced to close more than half of its 900 UK stores after delivery problems resulted in severe chicken shortages.
The popular fast food chain switched its delivery contract to DHL last week, with the courier service blaming “operational issues” for the disruption in supply.
In the meantime, hundreds of KFC stores across the UK have been forced to shut their doors – although it is unclear when the delivery problems will be fully sorted.
“Our teams are working flat out all hours to get the rest back up and running as soon as possible”, a KFC spokesperson confirmed in a statement.
“It’s too early to confirm how long it will take to clear the backlog.”
KFC have since apologised in a rather humorous newspaper ad:

“The chicken crossed the road, just not to our restaurants”, KFC confirmed on Twitter.
“We’ve brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems – getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex!”
DHL said in a statement: “Due to operational issues, a number of deliveries in recent days have been incomplete or delayed. We are working with our partners, KFC and QSL, to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience.”
