Teen star signed up for gritty drama
Kick-Ass star Chloë Moretz is set to star in Derick Martini‘s new indie film, Hick.
The actress, who has worked on Martin Scorsese‘s The Invention Of Hugo Cabret, Let Me In and The Fields as well as playing Hit Girl in the superhero comedy, will play 13-year-old Luli in the coming-of-age drama.
Filming for the movie, which was adapted by the author of the novel Andrea Portes, will take place later in 2010 in New Mexico and will see Luli hitchhiking to [n]Las Vegas[/b] when her drunk parents leave her to look after herself.
The original novel – which follows the teen as she gets mixed up in a world of crime – includes a scene where the character is raped by one of the men she meets in the Nevada city, but there is no word yet on how the big screen adaptation will cover the grittier parts of the story.
Lymelife director Derick Martini reportedly has a $6 billion budget for the film.
