Kick-Ass writer to pen ‘X-Men: First Class’

Jane Goldman writing X-Men 4, says husband Jonathan Ross

The screenwriter of Kick-Ass is going back to comic book action by writing X-Men: First Class.

The latest in the X-Men franchise – also known as X-Men 4 – will be written by Jane Goldman, according to her TV presenter husband Jonathan Ross.

It will mark something of a Kick-Ass reunion, with director Matthew Vaughn also signed up. The duo have also worked together on fantasy hit Stardust.

Goldman is “Away writing X Men 4” Ross revealed via Twitter. After answering some simple queries such as when it will be released (“Next summer”), he later tweeted: “I am afraid I better not answer any more queries re X-Men: First Class for fear of spoilers and also possible divorce. Thank you.”

X-Men: First Class is to be a prequel in the X-Men timeline, and will concentrate on the relationship between Xavier and Magnto – played by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in the other X-Men films – along with the founding of Mutant School, according to original X-Men director Bryan Singer.

Singer had previously laid out the storyline for the film, and was due to direct himself, but was forced to just take a producing role due to other commitments.
