‘Kim Possible’ is getting a live-action Disney film

It's being made by the Disney Channel.

The Disney Channel has confirmed that they’re making a live-action movie version of ‘Kim Possible’.

The cartoon was a favourite in the mid-2000s, featuring Kim as a teenage crime fighter, who took on scientist villains Dr. Drakken and Shego, alongside her best buddy (and eventual boyfriend) Ron Stoppable and his naked mole rat, Rufus.

Disney Channel announced the news yesterday, with a tweet asking followers who they’d love to see play Kim.

“Call me, beep me, if you want a #KimPossible DCOM!” they wrote.

“Casting has just begun for live-action Kim Possible Disney Channel Original Movie. Who would you love to see play Kim?”

Many fans suggested Bella Thorne as Kim, with Zendaya as her pal, Monique.

One Twitter user even thought Pitbull would make a great mole rat.

However, reactions to the initial news were mixed, with some saying that ‘Kim Possible’ wouldn’t work as a remake, while others welcomed the announcement with excitement.

So far, there’s no news on when the movie will be released, with casting only just going underway.

It’s not known whether the original ‘Kim Possible’ theme song – ‘Call Me, Beep Me’ – will be used. It was sung by Christina Milian, you can listen below.

Meanwhile, last year it was announced that Beyonce would star in a star-studded live-action remake of 1994 favourite, ‘The Lion King’. Read the full cast list for the film here.

Ryan Reynolds will be playing Detective Pikachu in an upcoming live-action Pokemon film of the same name.

Last month, it was announced that Justice Smith would play the human lead in the film alongside Reynolds and ‘Three Billboards’ actress Kathryn Newton.

Ken Watanabe – who has starred in such films as ‘The Last Samurai’, ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Inception’ – also officially joined the cast of ‘Detective Pikachu’.
