Lana Del Rey has announced that she is developing a Broadway musical.
Answering a fan question in a new interview with L’Officiel about whether she would ever write or direct her own “feature-length or short film” she said: “I thought about writing a biopic about someone that wasn’t real. Actually, I was asked to write a musical, which I’ve started. It was for Broadway.”
Discussing how long it’ll take for the project to be completed, she said: “I may finish in two or three years. Me and [collaborator] Rick [Nowels] have written something, so we’ll see.”
Last week (February 6) Del Rey reportedly broke down in tears at her first concert since a man was arrested for allegedly plotting to kidnap the singer.
The 43-year-old man, named Michael Hunt, was reported to have been intercepted by police outside Del Rey’s Amway Center show in Orlando on Friday, February 2, after the police received a tip about a potential kidnapping.
Hunt had been carrying a knife, Orlando Police later confirmed. Since the event, he has been charged with attempted kidnapping.
In a video she posted to Instagram, Del Rey said of the event: “After what happened in Orlando, I just really wanted to be here with you guys tonight. I was totally feeling fine and then I just got … a little bit nervous when I got on stage. I just want to say that I’m super happy to be here with you guys. But if I’m a little bit feathery, bear with me.”
