Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘slash’ attacker jailed

Aretha Wilson sentenced to two years in jail

A woman who ‘slashed’ Leonardo DiCaprio‘s face with a broken bottle in 2005 has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Aretha Wilson, 40, pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon, after an incident at a Hollywood party which left the star needing 17 stitches, reports BBC News.

Her lawyer said she was likely to serve six months, as she had already spent a year in jail and would get a reduced sentence for good behaviour. DiCaprio did not attend the hearing at the Los Angeles court.

Wilson was accused of gatecrashing a party hosted by Paris Hilton‘s former boyfriend, Rick Salomon, and attacking DiCaprio, star of Titanic and The Departed.

Police said she had mistaken the actor for a former boyfriend.

Wilson is a Canadian citizen, and fled to her home country after the incident and had to be extradited to the US to face charges. Her lawyer said that after his client serves her remaining time in jail she may be deported back to Canada.
