Lindsay Lohan will play a porn star, a role which the film’s director has declared is “very good” for her.
Lohan had been rumoured to be playing Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the Deep Throat porn star. However while it was thought she was to star in a different project called Lovelace, she will now be starring in a competing film titled Inferno.
A producer on the project, Chris Hanley, confirmed her involvement to MTV News, while another producer, Wali Razaqi, added: “The idea has been kicked around for months. The director [Matthew Wilder] told me it would be a very good role for her.”
Linda Lovelace was the stage name of Linda Susan Boreman, who became a household name and cultural phenomenon after starring as a frustrated woman exploring her sexuality in 1972 porn film Deep Throat. In later years, she became an anti-porn crusader, claiming a gun was held to her head off-camera during the shooting of Deep Throat by her then manager and husband Chuck Traynor.
Anna Faris – who played a former Playboy bunny in comedy The House Bunny – had previously been linked with the role, with Sam Rockwell cast as Traynor.
It is unclear if Rockwell will still play the part opposite Lohan.
