At the Drive-In have released their first new song in 16 years.
‘Governed By Contagions’ is the Texas post-hardcore group’s first new material since their 2000 album ‘Relationship of Command’. The track is available to download for free from At the Drive-In’s official website.
In March, the band reunited for their first live show since 2012. Guitarist Jim Ward dropped out of the performance the night before despite having been expected to reunite with his bandmates.
ATDI’s US comeback tour was subsequently cancelled due in June due to health concerns over Bixler-Zavala’s throat and vocal chords but the group returned to the road for a string of international shows the following month.
Since initially splitting in 2001, At the Drive-In reformed for a tour in 2012. After the tour’s last gig at London’s O2 Brixton Academy, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler vowed that the group would never play again.
However, Rodriguez-Lopez later changed his mind, saying in 2013 that At the Drive-In were not over and that there were always possibilities that the band would play together again.
Earlier this year, Rodriguez-Lopez revealed plans to release 12 solo albums that were recorded over a period of five years between 2008-13.
ATDI were recently added to the bill for next year’s Reading and Leeds festival.
